What is a Home Health Aide?

A trained and certified healthcare worker who helps a patient in the home with personal care (as hygiene and exercise) and light household duties (as meal preparation) and who monitors the patient’s condition —abbreviation HHA.

What happens after I complete the Home Health aide course?

Once you complete any of our HHA courses you will receive a Certificate of Completion. You can also register for the Florida Certified Assistant Examination if you have completed your skills competency checklist with one of our Licensed Nursing Instructors. Our Career Advisors are available to provide job placement assistance with one of our employer partners.

Are the courses accredited or approved by the Florida Board of Nursing?

C.N.A Technical Center’s courses are designed and developed based on the Florida Department of Education’s current year Curriculum Frameworks.

How do I register to take the Certified Nursing Assistant examination?

Students interested in taking the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant exam must pay the required amount of $155.00.  After all fees are paid, one of our Enrollment Specialist will process your application and submit your application to a Prometric test provider.

Where can I take my test?

You can train at one of our three testing sites in Tampa, Pinellas and Vero Beach.

What is a Certified Nursing Assistant?

Certified nursing assistant (CNA) is a person who assists patients with healthcare needs and cares for a patient who is ill or recovering from a surgery or disease. CNA’s duties are assigned by a registered professional nurse. They provide service on activities of daily living, bedside care, including basic nursing procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse.

What happens after I complete a Certified Nursing Assistant Course?

Once you complete any of our C.N.A courses, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. The certificate qualifies you to work as a Home Health Aide until you register and pass the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant exam. Do I have to purchase Scrubs?

No scrubs are provided for students who are enrolled in one of our certified nursing assistant programs.

Why is a Level II Background Screening Required for all courses?

All students enrolling in Home Health Aide and/or Certified Nursing Assistant courses must have a Level II background check prior to enrollment in the program. Students who are not eligible should not enroll in the course as they will not be able to obtain gainful employment working with vulnerable adults or children. This is a requirement from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration and applies to Hospitals, Nursing Home and Home Health Agencies.
